Ridgeway Lions Club has supported Lions Camp Dorset from the beginning…
When the raw land was purchased, it was our club and its members that cleared and removed the trees and brush, leveled the land, helped set up roadways and infrastructure. That was a long costly process. You won’t see that in the books because our club members paid to get the equipment to Dorset, ran the equipment, supplied the needed equipment and materials for work, and did the work, fed all the volunteers – all donated at no cost to Camp Dorset. Our club members throughout the camp built foundations, buildings, sidewalks and many other facilities, fed all the volunteers, all donated at no cost to Camp Dorset.
In addition to this, one of our members arranged substantial donations from shipping companies he worked with for the donation of mattresses, furniture and televisions for the camp once the building was complete. He received such strong support that excess donations were brought to the East Hamilton club, where they were auctioned off to raise funds for the needs of Camp Dorset. We estimate the commercial cost for our donated materials, services and help would be hundreds of thousands of dollars back when the camp was built.
We did all this work out of our Lions spirit and belief in your mission.

We are trying to re-capture our history and more properly recognize the tens of thousands of volunteer hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars of financial support.
